List of Boston Area iPad Owners

Couldn't sleep, so I decided to count sheep. More precisely, people within 50 km of Boson who tweeted that they bought or reserved an iPad.

Analysis of these 70 Boston area early iPad adopters.

-The vast, vast majority are men. I think there are like 4 women in this list. 

-Most didn't tweet what they bought/reserved, just that it was an iPad. But of the few that did, no conclusion can be reached as to which version is the most popular.

-The majority of tweets about having ordered an iPad were within the first couple of hours of availability on Friday. There were only a few on Saturday.

-iPad chatter in Boston was very high before the order process went live, indicating that many more Boston Tweeters bought the iPad early Friday but didn't tell the world.

 

According to Wikipedia, there are 4.4 million people in the Boston Metropolitan area, or about 1.3% of the 330 million Americans. I'm assuming that the iPad penetration rate will be higher than average in Boston because of the higher than average income and education levels and the relatively high percentage of people with English as a first language (are there any Spanish language ebooks out there?). Also, I'm guessing public transit users are more likely to get an iPad than people who drive. But that is speculation on my part.
